"Tallow vs. Vegetable Based Soaps"

All of us "purists" know the harmful effects of the standard ingredients in manufactured soaps. All-vegetable soaps are becoming more and more popular, but tallow-based or its synthetic equivalent manufactured soaps, are still the norm. Tallow is extremely saturated and is known to clog pores, causing blackheads, eczema and other skin ailments. Our skin readily accepts both the good and bad oils we expose it to, so it's imperative we be selective about which products we wish to subject our skin to. Eventually each toxic exposure will be absorbed and inhibit the skin's ability to function.

Everyone knows the importance of moisture and water retention. Heat, cold, ultra violet rays, synthetic cosmetics, pollution and diet can all produce negative effects on our skin. It's imperative that we conserve our skin's moisture content in order to avoid the effects of dry skin.

Hand milled products help the skin retain its moisture and nourish it with vitamins and nutrients often lacking in manufactured products. These products create and allow a fresh supply of moisture, while at the same time, allowing the skin to release waste. Emollient oils which absorb moisture well are sweet almond oil, olive oil and jojoba oil.
Tallow soaps (or its synthetic equivalent) are much less expensive to manufacture, and much easier to work with, which is why it's still the most popular choice among mass producers of soaps.
As soap makers, we know dead animal fat is not something we would like to wash our face with.
